Web 2.0

The advancement of the web today has changed alot of peoples lives, like by getting information faster and viewing missed information that they probably missed on T.V. The web has changed my life alot, i receive information alot faster and get things done alot faster casue of the web. I can see things on youtube and myspace that change the way i think and my political views about certain topics. And it will continue to change my mindset by maturing more on how i think of certain things and topics. I always think the news media will be the same, like for example keeping america in check and scared and always keeping us in fear. I think it will always be presented in the same way and we'll always receive it the same way.

Election results

The results of the election were very surprising to me, but also kind of expecting. Because Like Barack Obama said he could bring change to this country and everybody believes him and has so much hope for him, and they also have alot of high expectations from him. I expected him to win because people wanted something new for the government and the people know that John McCain would have given them another miserable 8 years. This means this is a whole new concept for the future now that Obama is president. New policies and more opportunities foe the people of America. I learned alot about the american people and how they can change or how other people like Barack Obama can change their political views and make them actually come out and vote for the first time. And that democracy is still the most powerful party and how i now seems to be the right choice of the two major parties.

Larry White

Today in the superior court of San Francisco a man was convicted on two counts of rape. All of this rape and robbery took place in the south market area in SF and it happened in 1998.I was kind of confused on why they took so long to convict him of his crimes.I mean yeah better late than never but still i think he should have been caught a long time ago, not today already a decade later. The judge sentenced him to 50 years to life in prison which will make the victims pretty happy but still not satisfied, i think they want him to take the death sentence. It's good that we have all this high tech technology today or they would have probably never caught him. But they did and it was all a big thanks to technology and the DNA they retrieved from the victims, but I'm not saying it's all good and everybody is ok because it's not, but at least the guy is paying for it with the rest of his life.

The 1st Amendment

The first amendment to me means a lot. It's also one of the reasons a lot of people from other countries come to our country, to escape from their own countries amendments. That is why our country is so popular, because we don't judge anybody on what they believe in or what they say. They have freedom of speech, religion, press, assembly and petition. I'm really glad to have been born in this country, because in other 3rd world places you don't get the same treatment as you do in the states. You can't say anything bad about the government or you could be sent to execution, unlike america you can make fun of the government with having to worry about anything. And you also are told what to believe in, but here you can believe in what ever you want. I think the 1st amendment is one of the things that makes this country one of the greatest in the world. I'll admit there are somethings you can't do that violates the 1st amendment, but that's only obscene things or that is false information or if it may endanger life or cause harm. It's not perfect but it's better than nothing or other countries policies.

Palaga Park

I went to palaga park and observed the enviorment and what i found out was that palaga park is very friendly area. A very urban area for teens and maybe even some parents.I see a lot of sports played there like football, soccer, basketball mostly and sometimes some tennis and volleyball. The park has a very positive mood and there is never no problems there or any muggings or fights. There is also all different types of ethnicity's there, but mostly black, Latino and Asian hardly any white people.I think that this is a very friendly enviorment for all kinds of people if you want to have fun.I even go there sometimes to play a little ball.

R.I.P Matt Garcia

On monday September 1, 2008 a young latino male by the name of Matt Garcia was shot three times in a quiet neighborhood in fairfield.Matt Garcia was one of the youngest elected officials in the nation. When i read this article it made me think alot, like about what the world is coming to these days. This guy wasn't doing anything wrong,he was just trying to help get kids off the streets like the little hooligans.Just trying to change the world kinda like obama except a little smaller, but so what it's still change and the kind of change that we need.I mean who knows he could have been the next obama but insted of being African American he would have been Latino. That really pisses me off that we'll never get to find out just cause a couple of people don't agree with him and decide to kill him.But last i heard he was in critical condition, but today they annouced that he was brain dead. This world will never come to peace but we could at least try, and this would have never happened if we had gun control, so this is also kind of a political issue because Obama is pro life which means he is for gun control, but McCain is against gun control, so if you really want to stop all this violence let Obama speak for you.

My Article

A couple of days ago i was reading an article in the San Francisco Chronicle and it really caught my attention. It was about a lesbian rights pioneer named Del Martin who died on August 27, 2008. She had gotten married to her significant other on June 16th in California by Mayor Gavin Newsom. She Had began her political activism in lesbian rights in the 1950's, and thats also when she met her lover Phyllis Lyons. They have been partners for over 55 years and finally this year they were allowed to be married.Even though it didn't last long Ms.Lyons said "I am so lucky to have known her, loved her and been her partner in all things".I think that this was a very important article, because it is good to remind people the struggle that Lesbians and gays have to go through everyday, not being able to have the sacred bond of marrige like the rest of us have.I think this article shows how unfair things can be, but these people still fight for what they believe in and will never stop until they have the same rights and privileges that we have.
